「おきな昆布」は大阪の中心、心斎橋にて慶應2年（1866年）に創業。
以来約140年余りの歴史ある老舗の昆布屋。
北海の荒波で採れた香り高い良質の昆布を、
伝承の技と味でつくりあげる至極の逸品は、
宮内庁御用達・農林大臣賞など数々の栄誉に輝いております。
「おきな（翁）」の屋号は初代 栗山善兵衛がお客様のご長寿とご健康を祈り、
店の襖に「おきな（翁）」の面を絵描いたのが始まりです。
今でもその願いは、商品の表紙に翁面が絵描かれていることで伝えられております。
大阪といえば、塩昆布におこしがお土産の定番。
江戸の頃より、北前船で北海道[当時は蝦夷（えぞ）]より、
美味しい昆布が届けられました。
それを浪速の商人達が醤油で炊き、
見事な塩昆布ができたのです。
また刃物で有名な堺では昆布を薄く削り「とろろ昆布」「おぼろ昆布」が生まれました。
永年の経験と巧みな技により生まれる塩昆布は至極の味わいでございます。
最近では健康食品として見直され、
カルシウム・ミネラル・ビタミンA・ビタミンB1・鉄分・ヨード・銅・マグネシウム・カリウムなど、
低カロリーで美容とダイエットに良いと若い女性層も増えてきています。
また昆布に含まれる「U-フコイダン」はガン細胞を消滅させる制ガン作用があることも注目されました。
